Google Forms

Google Forms are a great way to gather information from users. The really nice thing about using them, is that you can configure the form to put the data directly into a Google spreadsheet.   (as of Feb 2017)

First: We store all of our Google Forms on our account's Google Drive.  Log into Google Drive as indivisible.berks.pa@gmail.com

   - if you are looking a form that is on our website,  go to Indivisible Berks - Share Folder->Web Site Docs & Sheets->Google Forms (on website) folder
Likewise, if you are going to create a new form on our website, you should put it in this folder

   - if your are looking form will be used as a sign in form, and not found on the website,  go to Indivisible Berks - Share Folder-> Google Forms (not on website) folder.  Likewise, if you going to create form that will not be linked to on our website, you should put it in the folder.

Second: we generally store the data in a separate data file.  The form and spreadsheet usually share the same file name, but the spreadsheet where the data is stored, has "(Responses)" appended at the end of the name.

How to edit an existing form
1) Log into Google Drive as indivisible.berks.pa@gmail.com
2) Go to the Google Forms folder where it is stored (see note above about folder location)
3) Click on the form (remember, names that end in "(Responses)" are data files for the forms.

How to create a form

How to configure a form to save data to a Google Sheet
1) With the form open in edit mode, you should see 2 tabs across the top : QUESTIONS & RESPONSES
2) Select the Responses tab
3) In the upper right-hand corner, you should see the Google Sheet icon ... it looks like a green box with part of a grid in it.
4) Click on the Google Sheet icon and select save data to a Google Sheet

How to get a link/embed code for a form
1) With the form open in edit mode, click on the Send button
2) There are 3  Send via tabs:
  - Email = send an invitation to fill in a form via an email
  - Link = this is an unique URL for the form. You can send this in emails too, or post it on a web page
  - Embed HTML = this code can be embed in a web page, so it looks like the form is part of the page.
