Americans should stand with those fighting for a safer future.
I am writing on behalf of clergy who serve United Church of Christ congregations in Berks County to express our support for students all over America who are rallying against the wide use of weapons of war for civilian use.
We fully support the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, but we believe there is a need to have some controls over the kinds of weapons that have been consistently used in mass murders.
We also stand with the families of children murdered every day around America, knowing that their tragedies are not reported with the same frequency as attacks on our schools.
As servants of Jesus, we believe a nation that says it cares about its children should do whatever it can to protect them.
