Letter: President drowning in swamp that he made

Trump political philosophy difficult to comprehend.

Editor:
In "Meuser says liberal left greater threat than ISIS" (Reading Eagle, Sept. 12), congressional candidate Dan Meuser states that "they (liberals) want the bigger swamp because it is their path towards socialism." As is common with such Republican toadies, Meuser failed to mention anything about how President Donald Trump is drowning in a swamp of his own making.

I often wonder, who represents the brains behind Trump? Could it be former White House adviser Steve Bannon, who has been prowling around Europe trying to make some alliance with the growing alt-right pseudo-governments in that part of the world?

My understanding of Bannon's political philosophy is that election winners must begin their stay in office by tearing everything down and starting all over again. Is this not reminiscent of Trump's approach to all of President Barack Obama's accomplishments? Who gave Bannon the right to do what he has been doing? What branch of the U.S. government does he represent?

There are two articles of note on the Sept. 13 opinion page. Carroll A. Fossett Jr.'s letter "American socialism widely misunderstood" should be read. Then there is Marc Thiessen's column ("Now Obama's the one breaking norms"), which essentially ignores all of the criticisms of intelligent, experienced former members of past American governments and members of the "fake press."

May this country finally be freed of false prophets and Trumpian ineptitude, beginning with the approaching elections.
