Editor: In light of the news of the past year and the scandals against public officials and celebrities, I want to express my concern for those who were the victims of this abuse of power, especially by public officials. I can empathize with these victims, as I too suffered at the hands of bizarre and inappropriate behavior of a public official and hostile environment. If anyone reading this was a victim of any type of abuse or strong arming by any public official, I implore them to make it known to leadership in Harrisburg. These unreported and ignored issues are, in fact, "scary stuff," and no one should suffer at the hands of anyone, especially a public official. I am hopeful that Harrisburg will start to take seriously the dangers of abuse of power by officials over citizens. There are many, many good officials, and they are the majority. But the bad weeds have to be pulled for the good crop to flourish and new crops planted. We need to return to an election system that is not controlled by politicians but by the people. I urge individuals to stand up and defend their rights and demand a higher standard of behavior for public officials. Christine Gordon Douglassville Victims of abuse need to share their stories
