Letter: Vote for Democrats to protect programs

Party will preserve Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Editor:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has said he will bring up discussion and possibly vote again on repealing the Affordable Care Act after the election. The debate will center on pre-existing conditions. Republicans in the House have voted to repeal the law more than 60 times. If it is repealed, insurance companies could deny insurance or charge people more with pre-existing conditions.

As Election Day nears, Republicans are saying they want to protect people with pre-existing conditions. Why then are some of those same Republicans involved in lawsuits to stop the requirement that pre-existing conditions be covered by insurance? It seems they are telling us one thing and doing something else.

McConnell has blamed the recent $117 billion increase in the federal deficit not on the tax cuts for the wealthy but on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. I believe Republicans are going to go after those programs and try to change them.

Do people really want anyone messing with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid? Those who want those programs protected, should do what I am going to do, vote for the Democrats.
